Full-Text Search
Standard text search uses full-text search with ranking. It handles:
- Word stemming (e.g., "running" matches "run")
- Relevance ranking
- Highlighted matches in results
Semantic Search (AI-Powered)
For captures, Dial8 also supports semantic search using vector embeddings. This means you can search by meaning, not just exact words:
- "What did we decide about the pricing model?" finds relevant capture segments even if those exact words weren't used
- Powered by pgvector with 1536-dimensional embeddings
- Searches across capture chunks for granular results
Email Search
Email messages have their own search with:
- Full-text search across message bodies and subjects
- Highlighted match previews
- Filtering by account and folder
