AI Assistant

Dial8 includes an AI assistant powered by Claude that has deep access to your workspace. It can read, search, create, and update your data through 22+ integrated tools.

Chat Interface

Open the AI assistant from the sidebar chat panel. Conversations are saved so you can pick up where you left off.

The assistant uses Claude Sonnet for complex tasks and Claude Haiku for lighter queries.

Customize the AI's behavior with agent recipes — saved configurations that change how the assistant responds.

What Recipes Control

• System prompt — Custom instructions for the AI's behavior
• Tool access — Enable all tools, disable all, or select specific ones
• Response style — Format, tone, citation preferences
• Standing instructions — Persistent rules the AI follows

Using Recipes

Activate a recipe via slash command in the chat (e.g., /project-manager). The AI switches to that persona and tool set for the conversation.

Built-in Capture Recipes

Capture processing uses recipes to customize extraction:

• Meeting — General meetings (actions, decisions, summary)
• Brainstorm — Idea sessions (ideas, next steps)
• Standup — Daily standups (updates, blockers, commitments)
• Sales Call — Customer conversations (objections, commitments, follow-ups)
• Idea — Quick thought capture

Create custom recipes in Settings → Recipes.

Capture Processing

When a capture is processed, the AI:

1. Analyzes the transcript using the capture's recipe
2. Extracts action items with titles, descriptions, and suggested assignees
3. Extracts decisions — statements where the group agreed on something
4. High-confidence extractions (≥80%) are auto-confirmed
5. Lower-confidence items are flagged for human review in the dashboard

Email Drafting

The AI generates contextual email drafts by pulling from:

• The email thread being replied to
• Related captures and meeting transcripts
• Contact and company information
• Relevant actions and projects

Drafts are always saved for review — the AI never sends emails automatically.

Chat History

Conversations are persisted and accessible from the chat panel. Each conversation maintains its full message history and context.
